Using the Jigsaw Strategy in the English Language Learner Classroom to Teach Content-Specific Vocabulary

Multilingual learners (ML) at the secondary level come to classroom with a variety of learning experiences and language capabilities. An obstacle ML students could face is everyday usage an additional while simultaneously academic content language, which can cause potential challenge in classroom. Thus, teachers must be able adapt their teaching pedagogy assist MLs, prove challenging. Academic vocabulary conversational are two different aspects new being more difficult obtain since it not as tangible language. This techniques piece explains modified jigsaw activity that was used successfully sheltered science class; additionally, this strategy across disciplines grade levels, abilities. utilizes cooperative learning, graphic organizers, peer-to-peer engagement create optimal environment for students.
